Human nature never fails to amaze me! A month ago, I swear, I could see at least 3 people in my social feed, posting how they would do anything for a 6-months paid vacation twice a year or how no one would ever see them if they were given a room with unlimited WiFi and food.
Well, here we are. Quarantined in our houses with unlimited access to WiFi, movies, books and video games. And yet, I see people complaining. This is once in a lifetime opportunity. We get to stay home, stay where all our stuff is and get to enjoy with our family.
While our forefathers saved and served our country by participating in freedom movements and wars, we on the other hand, can save our country by just staying in our houses, resting on our couches doing nothing. No big deal, right?
I know for a fact that after a while, even sleeping gets tiresome and boring. While we may have no other choice right now, we can utilize this time in a positive and productive manner.
Apart from catching on all the sleep we have missed for the past 2 years, there are many ways in which one can make this lockdown a fun productive vacation.
Here are few things that you can do to make the most out of this lockdown:
Let the art flow
There is a a hidden artist that resides within each one of us. While most of them are hidden behind the burden of duties and responsibility, now is the perfect time to let them out. Now is a perfect time to release the artist hidden within you. Let the creative side of your brain explore and show its potential.
Work on that idea which you had eons ago but could not finish because you had other pressing matters to deal with. Pick up the brush and let the colors flow from your hand, see where they lead you.
Paint a portrait, write a poem, doodle your way into the unknown. Now is the best time for you to showcase your artistic and creative side. Who knows, you might get a new career opportunity out of it.

Binge it out
This is probably something that everyone of us is doing right now- Catching up on favorite shows and movies. Our lives have become so busy lately that apart from the weekends, we hardly get any time to catch up on our favorite TV shows and movies.
Well, this lockdown gives us an excellent opportunity to finish off our ‘watchlist’ and binge watch our favorite show and movie that we may have been avoiding all this time.
But, be careful, don’t just binge one show at time. Mix shows of different genres together so you don’t get bored and pause this activity as well.

Workout your brain
This pandemic has led to shut down of all gyms, parks and other recreational spaces meaning we do not have a dedicated space to work on our body anymore. But on the other hand, we now get a chance to work on brain.
We get a chance to make it smarter and sharper. This quarantine lockdown has provided us with an excellent opportunity to sharpen our people’s skills and grow our general knowledge.
Catch up on everything that is happening around you, read books and articles that have interesting facts. Watch documentaries and listen to podcasts that are based on topics outside fiction and fantasy. Tease your brain by indulging in a puzzle and trying to solve a Rubik’s cube.

Learning new facts or something that is cool can be a great ice breaker for your next date. Sharpen your social skills and general awareness so you can participate in any conversation without feeling awkward and feeling left out.
Skill up!
One should never stop learning. No matter what your age is, no matter what your occupation is, you should always be on the lookout for learning something new, something meaningful that can add to your skills. Learn a new new skill that can add value to your life at both fronts, personal and professional.
We are living in the golden age of the internet, use it to your advantage. There is no shortage of knowledge on the internet and especially with so many online learning platforms out there, there is something for everyone. Platforms like Udmey and Skillshare have plenty of courses to learn from. Use them, use this time to learn new skills relevant to your job and scope of work. Utilize this time to create a valuable and skillful portfolio for yourself.

Online learning platforms like Onlinebusiness.org have started offering digital marketing courses at a discounted rate so you can use this time in a skillful and productive manner.
Participate in household activities
This lockdown brings with it an excellent opportunity for everyone of us to be a part of the regular household activities. If you are a parent to young children, take this opportunity to teach them how to conduct daily home activities.
Teach them how they can cook basic items, let them participate in the kitchen and provide a helping hand to you. Teach them about different spices and vegetables and how they go hand in hand to increase our immunity.
Take this opportunity to spend some quality time with your loved ones while doing the household chores.

I know this lockdown is tough and for most, it is something that they would never wish to experience again. But, given the circumstances and everything going around, we need to start seeing on the silver linings. We need to start seeing on the positive aspect of things and make the most out them.
Be the couch potato, stay home and stay productive.
